Supporting the Festival as advocacy partners are ALD Connect, Charlie Elenore Foundation, Fabry Support & Information Group (FSIG), Firefly Fund, Global Genes, National Niemann-Pick Disease Foundation (NNPDF), National Tay-Sachs & Allied Diseases Association (NTSAD), Niemann-Pick UK (NP UK), RARE Foundation, and Sisters’ Hope Foundation. Together, these organizations represent thousands of patients, caregivers, researchers, clinicians, and advocates working every day to improve the lives of people affected by rare diseases.
“For rare disease patients and families, telling their stories isn’t just about awareness: it’s about bearing witness to lives that are complicated, courageous, and full of meaning,” said Charlene Son Rigby, CEO, Global Genes. “The 24/364 Rare Disease Film Festival creates space for our community to be truly seen, and it’s a reminder that this visibility deserves attention every day.”
California Life Sciences (CLS) and FOX 5 San Diego have joined as official media partners, helping extend awareness of the Festival throughout California and beyond while introducing new audiences to the stories, challenges, and extraordinary resilience of the rare disease community.
“California’s life sciences community has long been committed to advancing innovation that can make a meaningful difference for patients, including the millions of people and families affected by rare diseases,” said Mike Guerra, President and Chief Executive Officer of CLS. “Supporting the 24/364 Rare Disease Film Festival reflects an important part of the California Life Sciences mission—bringing our community together around patients, elevating their voices, and helping build greater understanding of the unmet needs that continue to drive scientific and medical innovation.”
“One of the most inspiring aspects of this Festival has been seeing organizations across the rare disease community come together around a shared belief that stories matter,” said Festival Organizer Erik Clausen. “Every advocacy organization represented here works tirelessly to improve lives every day. Their support helps ensure these stories reach broader audiences, create greater understanding, and ultimately inspire more empathy, awareness, and action.”
Festival Director Jon Fitzgerald, Founder of Cause Pictures, added, “We have received an amazing array of films for this first Festival from professional filmmakers, emerging creators, patients, caregivers, advocates, and first-time storytellers whose work captures the realities, hopes, challenges, and triumphs of living with rare disease.”
Films may be submitted by both amateur and professional filmmakers through November 13, 2026, in a range of categories, including feature-length and short films. Additional submission information, categories, eligibility requirements, and sponsorship opportunities are available at 24364.life.
